The Old Buttercross, a brand new pub and restaurant in Oakham, opened on May 18, creating 40 new jobs in the area.
“We had a fantastic first day,” said Shane Read, who runs the pub with his wife Kate. “We’ve been non-stop since we opened, and everyone seems very happy with the pub.”
The Old Buttercross has been built by Marston's Inns and Taverns and can cater for up to 150 diners. The pub offers a 2-for-1 menu, so all main courses, specials and fresh pizzas are two for the price of one, all day, every day. The delicious pizzas are made fresh to order in the kitchens, and there’s a selection of drinks, wines, lagers and Marston’s cask ales, along with some locally brewed ales.
“Our menu has already gone down very well with customers, who really appreciate the value it offers” added Shane.
“We’re really pleased the Old Buttercross is doing so well,“ said Paul Beynon, Area Operations Manager for Marston’s Inns and Taverns. “We’re aiming to be a hub for the local community and we’re very happy that they enjoy our excellent value for money, great food and fantastic customer service.”
